Atreis Information Manager - Information

Atreis Information Manager provides a quick and easy means of storing, and later locating, information. It keeps track of information in a hierarchical fashion with an easy to use user interface. The application includes online help that briefly describes its features and how to use it. A command-line interface is also available.

The application is being distributed under the GNU Public License with full source code available, and is freely redistributable under the terms of the license.

Atreis Information Manager also provides a user-programmable plugin architecture that can be used for addins. Source code is available for everything here, including the plugins, so if you want to enhance them, or create new ones, it's easy to do! The application comes with four plugins that are detailed below. Click on any of the images to see larger versions.

This is the basic text plugin. It allows one to store plain text entries. As with all plugins, the text is fully searchable.
This is the contacts plugin. It allows one to store basic contact information. Information stored includes:
  • Name broken up into first, middle, and last.
  • Address (A free-form text field)
  • Phone numbers (A list that can contain any number of phone numbers)
  • Email addresses (A list that can contain any number of email addresses)
  • Other (A free-form text field)
Buttons are provided that allow one to copy email addresses and phone numbers to the clipboard.
This is the web plugin. It provides the following features:
  • URL
  • Buttons to copy the URL to the clipboard, or open it into a configured browser.
  • Description (A free-form text field)

In addition to the above features, the application also provides the following:

  • Full search functionality. Search either entry titles, or the full-text of entries.
  • Built in help, including help for building plugins.
  • Undo, Redo, Copy, Paste - for editing entries.
  • Multiple files can be open at once.

Future Plans

I keep saying that I'm planning to make a number of enhancements to the program for the future, but to be honest, I haven't changed it since my son was born over three years ago. Here are the things that I would like to do, but am not likely to have time to do any time soon: Convert the data format to XML, and create a web-enabled interface. If anyone else would like to make these modification and send me the code, I wouldn't complain.
